Sixty guests were on hand at the Laurel’s BC Orchard Industry Museum last night to kick off Tourism Kelowna’s Farm To Table program. Speakers Nancy Cameron of Tourism Kelowna and Peter Donkers, Executive Director of the Investment Agriculture Foundation addressed guests to kick off the Farm To Table program and highlight the important role of agri-tourism for Kelowna and in the province. Guests at the reception included farms, food producers, and restauranteurs who are participating in the Farm To Table program for 2013; local media and writers from the Okanagan Food & Wine Writers Workshop; Minister of Agriculture Norm Letnick; Minister of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations Steve Thomson; Minister of Citizens’ Services and Open Government Ben Stewart; Councillor Mohini Singh; and other Tourism Kelowna stakeholders. The reception featured locally-sourced ingredients for canapés by Chef Mark Filatow, wines by CedarCreek Estate Winery and The View Winery, and apple juice by Function Junction Fruit Stand. We would like to thank all our participants for coming out to launch the Farm To Table program with us and sharing your stories with our local and visiting media guests.
