Tourism Kelowna’s 2014 Farm to Table guides are here, and they include augmented reality!
The 2014 program welcomes 3 new Farm to Table participants: Gambell Farms, Meadow Visita Honey Wines and Bohemian Cafe & Catering Company bringing the total to 27 restauranteurs, chefs, farms and agri-tourism businesses included in this self-guided tour. 75,000 pieces were printed for local and regional distribution. Guides are also used to service visitor inquires and for inclusion in delegate welcome packages. Distribution to local hotels, attractions and businesses begins today – so look for these easy to read, engaging self-guided tour brochures around town, or pop into the Tourism Kelowna Visitor Centre at 544 Harvey Avenue to pick up hard-copies.
On the bottom of the map you will find a small “Layar” logo with a bit of information on how to use it. This augmented reality technology requires the viewer to download a free smartphone app. This app brings the print material to life with video and rich media when the viewer hovers over hot spots on the brochure. These hotspots are not limited to print deadlines and can be edited /added at anytime which allows us to update the publication to deliver new content throughout the season. Try it for yourself, test out the front cover of the guide and find a few other hidden gems amongst the listings. Watch for updates as we get into the season!
The Farm to Table video, stakeholder listings and a digital copy of the publication are available in the Farm to Table section of the website: www.tourismkelowna.com/do/farm-to-table
