“To generate overnight visitor demand to economically benefit Kelowna and its neighbouring communities” is the new Mission of the Tourism Kelowna Society as determined by the updating of Tourism Kelowna’s strategic direction. Consumer, tourism stakeholder, and resident input was used to inform the process, and municipal government long-term visions were reviewed to ensure that our direction was aligned with the development plans of the City of Kelowna, District of Lake Country, District Municipality of West Kelowna, and Westbank First Nations.
This Mission will be accomplished by concentrating our efforts in three interdependent Key Result Areas:
1. Undertake effective destination marketing, sales, and service
2. Encourage the development of our destination
3. Operate with excellence

Hello golf season! If you haven’t seen it yet, have a look at Golf Kelowna’s newest golf video:
In March, Tourism Kelowna’s Calgary-based sales contractor, Nicolle Gomez de Sousa, accompanied by ten Tourism Kelowna stakeholders took Calgary by storm, visiting 43 clients from 11 offices in three days. The group delivered formal presentations but also had an opportunity for more casual networking as well. A professional photographer joined the group and provided new head shots to each of the clients as a thank you for meeting with us.
Aside from further developing our relationships with Calgary based planners, the mission provided insight into this soft market with most companies expecting a full rebound in 2016. Some companies have even been given the go ahead to start planning for 2016 events so keep your eyes open for new opportunities soon.
