Canada 150 is coming and the City of Kelowna is encouraging community organizations to celebrate.
To mark the 150th anniversary of Canada’s confederation in 2017, the City is investing $150,000 to foster community-driven initiatives that will result in a lasting legacy and an increase in civic and national pride.
One grant with a proposed $60,000 budget will go to non-profit groups planning Canada 150 celebrations, events, and projects, and another grant with a proposed $35,000 budget will go to events adding Canada 150 themes.
The City will also invest in Festivals Kelowna’s 2017 programming, including Celebrate Canada Day.
The first application intake for the City of Kelowna’s Canada 150 Program is expected in late May. Contact information for the program is available at www.kelowna.ca/canada150 .
