Budget Car and Truck Rentals have partnered with Tourism Kelowna for another year giving the mobile visitor services program a lift with a 2016 Ford Transit Connect. The van has just been wrapped with bright new imagery for 2017 and will be found attending events and festivals throughout Kelowna and the Central Okanagan. The van is also used by the Tourism Kelowna team for familiarization tours, site visits, and to deliver the 2017 Official Kelowna Visitors’ Guide and other print materials to over 500 locations.

We Want Your National Association Meeting in Kelowna

Kelowna Team at a recent trade show in Ottawa.

Tourism Kelowna’s Pat Gappmayr and representatives from Mission Hill Family Estate, Delta Hotels by Marriott Grand Okanagan Resort, The Cove Lakeside Resort and Cantrav attended the Tête à Tête trade show and conference in Ottawa last week.  The trade show brings together national association members from the Ottawa Gatineau region to learn and consider destinations for their conferences.  We had 45 meeting planners stop by our booth and have already seen two leads as a result of conversations at the trade show.  The day ended with the MPI Charity Auction & Dinner Gala with over 650 attendees.

Prior to the show, Tourism Kelowna also participated in Destination Direct, a two day event that starts with a hosted buyer networking reception and dinner event for 20 clients.  The following day, Tourism Kelowna had appointments with 10 meeting planners for one-on-one conversations about what Kelowna has to offer their next meeting or conference.  Day two is capped off at a networking event called the Reveal social where many of the Canadian DMOs host planners for the evening.

If you are members of a national association and think there may be an opportunity to host an upcoming AGM in Kelowna, please let us know.

New and Noteworthy in 2017. We Want to Hear from You.

Intimate vineyard dinners, pop up shops, special events and live music. Restaurant and hotel expansions, and new attractions and openings. Fresh products, new releases, and collaborations. We know there is always something new to share with us. As we plan out our 2017 travel media and content marketing program, and even look towards 2018, we’re asking our stakeholders to spill the beans on what’s new, noteworthy and up and coming.

Tourism Kelowna wants to highlight the diverse list of things to do, places to visit and must-have local products through a variety of mediums. The information you provide may be used to pitch to travel media to visit Kelowna, to create dynamic media materials and content on, to share on social media, or to inform our Visitor Centre staff and volunteers so they may continue to boast about all our destination has to offer.

Help us showcase you the best we can. Tourism Kelowna wants to note when our stakeholders feel they are at their best and brightest. Whenever possible, we’ll aim to bring media and influencers in at times that put you in the best light and create a desire to travel to our destination.

Happening now or happening later, the more information we have the more information we can share!

We can keep a secret. Let us know if any of the information you are passing on is for our ears only or is not to be shared before a certain date.

Spring advertising for Golf Kelowna has begun.  The partnership between Tourism Kelowna and area golf courses continues to strengthen the Kelowna brand as one of Canada’s top golf destinations. Building on the success of past years, the 2017 advertising plan moves forward with proven performers, improved targeting based on 2016 research and by incorporating feedback from our fall planning session with our golf courses partner.Advertising Highlights:

  • Proven tactics including television, digital banners, The Weather Network sponsorship (golf report), and various content partnerships.
  • 2017 creative has been refreshed to make Kelowna distinct amongst the traditional golf advertising, and to target a younger demographic by including additional items of interest to an active, urban golf getaway traveler (outdoor adventure, craft beer, water activities).
  • Primary markets include BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and the Greater Toronto Area, with some nation-wide coverage as well.
  • The Weather Network Golf Sponsorship kicks off the week of Feb 6.
  • The Golf Kelowna commercial begins on TSN Saturday Feb 4, and will air at peak golf audience times on TSN and Global BC, during all of the major championship tournaments, throughout the golf season.

Tourism Kelowna’s golf course partners also attend consumer golf shows in Vancouver (Feb 18 & 19), Edmonton (March 11 & 12) and Calgary (March 25 & 26). Who better for golf travelers to talk with than the golf professionals?  Our golf course partners report that there is a lot of interest from golfers at these shows where they can discuss the upcoming season and industry news while assisting them with their travel plans.
