Tourism Kelowna hosted 10 sport and event planners in Vancouver last week on the annual Tourism Kelowna Food Tour.
Tourism Kelowna’s Harvey Hubball, Julia Garner, and Waterfront Wines’ owner and Executive Chef Mark Filatow accompanied the group as they visited five of Vancouver’s popular restaurants, enjoying Kelowna inspired and sourced, food and drink along the way.
Designed to be a unique experience, Tourism Kelowna was able to connect with key decision makers in the sport and event market. Current and future hosting opportunities were discussed at length, with plenty of possibilities arising for 2018 & 2019.

September 27, 2017: Kelowna, BC – Following a comprehensive search that drew in over 90 applications from across Canada, the Board of Directors of Tourism Kelowna is pleased to announce the appointment of Lisanne Ballantyne as its President and CEO. Ballantyne is a seasoned executive with senior leadership experience that spans tourism, economic development, major events, marketing sponsorships, sales, and public assembly facilities management and will join the Tourism Kelowna team October 30, 2017.
Registration is now live for the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association (TOTA) AGM and Summit on November 1 & 2 in Kamloops, BC. The summit will take place at the Hotel 540 and will include discussion on the challenging year and information on how TOTA is aligning forces with partners such as DBC, TIAC, TIABC, Aboriginal Tourism, Destination Canada and other industry stakeholders. The opening reception will be held at the Rocky Mountaineer.
It’s safe to say that 2017 has been a challenging year for our destination. What’s important to note is that throughout the weather-related challenges, local businesses have remained open and continued to provide great experiences for visitors from far and wide. Tourism Kelowna continued to market our destination throughout the summer, and we have extended paid marketing tactics into the autumn.
