Tourism Industry Showcase

A Volunteer having fun learning about Whiplash Cable Park at the 2016 Event

Tourism Kelowna is hosting its second annual Tourism Industry Showcase event on Wednesday April 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

What is this event? This is an opportunity for Tourism Kelowna Stakeholders to get together and learn about each other in preparation for our busy spring, summer, and fall seasons. Think of it like a combination of a familiarization tour, networking, and speed dating.

There are three opportunities for Tourism Kelowna Stakeholder businesses to participate in this event:

  • Send your frontline and customer service staff for free! They will have the opportunity to chat with many of Kelowna’s tourism businesses by browsing through all of the booths in the showcase. This will allow them to learn about these businesses and make better recommendations to visitors during our busy Spring, Summer, and Fall season.
  • Purchase a Showcase booth and show off your activity, attraction, food & drink, farm, or tour business. There is an early bird rate of $75 if you purchase before April 20!
  • Attend one of three training opportunities that are available to you and your staff:
    • How to utilize Tourism Kelowna’s Services and Guides
    • Using Social Media to Serve Visitors and Increase Visitors
    • Learn How to Monitor Your Tourism Kelowna Web Traffic and Listings

Please click through to our Eventbrite page to sign up. Once on the site, click on the green “Tickets” button and scroll through the options: https://goo.gl/AGq4N7

Connecting Meetings in Kelowna to San Francisco

Robin Thompson SFO CTC FAM 2014

Robin Thompson from Business Events Canada visits Mission Hill Winery and enjoys playing with the sculpture exhibit.

Tourism Kelowna hosted Business Events Canada representative Robin Thompson for a FAM to Kelowna in late September.  Robin works for the Canadian Tourism Commission and is based out of San Francisco.  Her role is to sell meetings and conferences in Canada and with the new non-stop flight between San Francisco and Kelowna it was time to invite Robin back to Kelowna and show her what we have to offer.  Robin spent three days in our beautiful city and visited hotels as well as many of the great off-site venues and attractions that make Kelowna so unique as a meetings destination.  We look forward to continuing to build our connections in San Francisco and working with Robin again in the future.  For more information on these and other M&IT activities please contact me at jennifer@tourismkelowna.com.

Tourism Kelowna Welcomed Canadian Cloud Council for Site Inspection

Cloud Council of Canada FAM Jan 2013

Canadian Cloud Council enjoying a delicious dinner at Summerhill Pyramid Winery

Tourism Kelowna wowed the key decision-makers from the Canadian Cloud Council on January 9 – 11th.  They are considering our beautiful city for the Cloud Factory conference in 2015.  The group was able to spend some quality time visiting the Delta Grand, their potential host hotel, as well as a number of other hotels, wineries and venues.  This is a lucrative IT conference for Kelowna and with the support of our many exceptional stakeholders we are closer to securing this business.  In the above picture, the group is shown having dinner at Summerhill Pyramid Winery.
