A Volunteer having fun learning about Whiplash Cable Park at the 2016 Event
Tourism Kelowna is hosting its second annual Tourism Industry Showcase event on Wednesday April 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
What is this event? This is an opportunity for Tourism Kelowna Stakeholders to get together and learn about each other in preparation for our busy spring, summer, and fall seasons. Think of it like a combination of a familiarization tour, networking, and speed dating.
There are three opportunities for Tourism Kelowna Stakeholder businesses to participate in this event:
Send your frontline and customer service staff for free! They will have the opportunity to chat with many of Kelowna’s tourism businesses by browsing through all of the booths in the showcase. This will allow them to learn about these businesses and make better recommendations to visitors during our busy Spring, Summer, and Fall season.
Purchase a Showcase booth and show off your activity, attraction, food & drink, farm, or tour business. There is an early bird rate of $75 if you purchase before April 20!
Attend one of three training opportunities that are available to you and your staff:
How to utilize Tourism Kelowna’s Services and Guides
Using Social Media to Serve Visitors and Increase Visitors
Learn How to Monitor Your Tourism Kelowna Web Traffic and Listings

Our Sales team has been busy hosting clients on familiarization tours over the past month.
In September and October we have hosted 16 planners in Kelowna including six planners from Meeting Encore, a third party planning company out of Toronto. We co-hosted our first ever ‘superFAM’ with the Delta Grand Okanagan Resort & Conference Centre which not only featured the Delta Grand but several other Kelowna venues and hotels. Throughout the fall we also hosted planners from Bell Mobility, Brownlee LLP, BC Electrical Association and Tree of Life.
Hosting clients in Kelowna is an important strategy to secure new meeting and conference business. Once clients see for themselves how easy it is to get here, the many venues and accommodation options we offer, and the excellent support offered by our service providers they are convinced we are the right choice for their event. For more information on these and other FAM tours for the sales team please contact Jennifer Horsnell at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 250-861-1515 ext. 206.
The Kelowna Visitor Centre has become a retail outlet for Kelowna Regional Transit Passes.
To gain first-hand experience on local accommodations and attractions that are accessible by public transit, Tourism Kelowna staff and volunteers were out on a familiarization tour this week using the Kelowna Regional Transit System. On most familiarization tours we travel by rental van, but for this tour, taking public transit gives us better insight into accommodations and attractions that are accessible by bus. With the goal of making public transit convenient and accessible to the visitor, our Kelowna Visitor Centre became a retail outlet for Kelowna Regional Transit Passes as of Wednesday, July 8, carrying day passes, monthly passes, and single use passes in sheets of ten.
