Tourism Kelowna is hosting its second annual Tourism Industry Showcase event on Wednesday April 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
What is this event? This is an opportunity for Tourism Kelowna Stakeholders to get together and learn about each other in preparation for our busy spring, summer, and fall seasons. Think of it like a combination of a familiarization tour, networking, and speed dating.
There are three opportunities for Tourism Kelowna Stakeholder businesses to participate in this event:
Send your frontline and customer service staff for free! They will have the opportunity to chat with many of Kelowna’s tourism businesses by browsing through all of the booths in the showcase. This will allow them to learn about these businesses and make better recommendations to visitors during our busy Spring, Summer, and Fall season.
Purchase a Showcase booth and show off your activity, attraction, food & drink, farm, or tour business. There is an early bird rate of $75 if you purchase before April 20!

Five Photo Stops were installed throughout Kelowna at the beginning of August. The photo stops were installed in high foot traffic locations where visitors and locals are commonly taking photos and posting them to social media channels. The Photo Stop signs are intended to inspire visitors and local residents who are taking photos, to include #exploreKelowna and the photo stop location in their posts. Tourism Kelowna staff monitor these hashtag and in turn hope to interact with in market visitors. The five current locations of Photo Stops are Knox Mountain Crown Lookout, Rotary Marsh Boardwalk, The Ogopogo Statue, Boyce-Gyro Beach, and Rotary Beach. Each of these locations has its own unique hashtag displayed on the sign.

On Saturday May 7, Tourism Kelowna hosted a Food Truck Rally from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There were 9 food trucks in attendance and the event saw over 425 attendees! The mobile visitor services staff and volunteers were also set-up in the parking lot giving out brochures, maps, and information to those in attendance.
This event provides an opportunity for Tourism Kelowna to invite both local residents, and visitors that might not normally utilize a visitor centre to stop by and see what we have to offer. Many that attended the event also stopped by our information tent, or came into the visitor centre to have a look.
During the event Doak Shirreff staff set up a booth to raise funds for the Red Cross to benefit Fort McMurray evacuees and they were able to raise over $1,200!

Budget Car and Truck Rentals has given Tourism Kelowna a lift through the use of a 2015 Toyota Sienna minivan through to the end of October, a partnership that will help Tourism Kelowna to bring its message to the streets as they invite and welcome visitors to experience Kelowna and the Central Okanagan.
The brightly coloured vehicle will be seen at local events and festivals and will be used to distribute Tourism Kelowna’s marketing materials including the Visitors’ Guide, Farm to Table Guide, and Wine Trails Guides to local businesses. The vehicle will also be used to shuttle volunteers, visiting travel writers and meeting planners when they’re out exploring Kelowna. Continue reading →
The Tourism Kelowna Street Team is geared up and has already started servicing visitors on the Downtown Waterfront Boardwalk. Visitor Centre staff tour the boardwalk on an e-bike and park in key high-traffic areas. This is a great opportunity to service visitors, as on many occasions the Street Team speaks with 60+ visitors per hour. Continue reading →
